OTTO LOHMÜLLER
The Pupil, 1980
.

One of Lohmüllers more mythological and abstract paintings which is almost unconcerned with the usual portrayal of innocence and boyish grace.

The elements around the boy are abstract echoings of himself which symbolize his soul in one way but also reflect his whole lifetime experience and knowledge to come. This pupil appears to be listening to the lessons of his own future.
