DAVID HOCKNEY
Two boys in the pool Hollywood, 1965 |
The mixture of the
banalities and refinement which is Pop Art
has always been the perfect mastery of David
Hockney. Hockney never has changed his
conventionalized subjects (landscapes, strange
countries, beautiful people) - and many critics have
named him a superficial artist since he also has
never tried to hide his lust for life and his
passion for attractive youths and for luxury.
Nevertheless, American expressionism wildly finds
way through him into the swimming pool nexus.
