BOYS IN ART - The Son Of The Artist

Gustav Richter was one of the more talented painters of his time even though much of his sweetened manner appears almost unbearable.
It is difficult to find a point of reference to the attitude from which these paintings sprang into existence. It is as if you preferred alabaster to marble.

He became a painter of excellent portraits for the Berlin society from the Sixties to the Eighties of the 19th century, portraying women mostly.
For a great many years, every female portrait which Gustav Richter presented was regarded as the best painting of the respective academic art exhibition.

In an artbook of 1879, Richter is called "possibly the most inspired artist of Berlin".
For 22 years, his works were deemed as the crowning moments of any exhibition.
